I Give Myself to Her
We were sitting on the couch. I’d come in from work a couple of hours ago. Now, after a nap and a cup of coffee my brain was clear, happy to just relax.
She looked at me, pursed her lips, seemed to shrug and said, “You have a choice to make, you know?”
That had been in the back of my mind but I’d kept it hidden, as if it were behind an iron door.
“I know” trying to smile agreeably as I replied.
“Well … ?”
Knowing I stood all too good a chance of getting what I asked for it was hard to speak. I had to close my eyes before I could say “Yes, please I want to try it.”
“Honey this isn’t about trying: this is doing.” Patting my knee, she continued, “Say no and I’ll understand. But you better understand before you say yes.”
Giddy and nauseated at the same time I said, “Yes.”
“Do it properly.”
Sliding off the couch I knelt before her with my head bowed.
“I beg you to take me and use me without reservation or limitation for the next seven days.”
“Give yourself to me formally. Remember: once you do that, the word “no” will become a word that you are forbidden to utter.
